EA to Eliminate a Large Number of Multi-Player OnLie Games Including Battlefield 2 and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3

Being able to play games such as Red Alert 3, Battlefield 2, Cysis 2, Command & Conquer, Need for Speed 2: Hot Pursuit 2 and more will not be possible soon.

Bad news for OnLine game lovers since  there are quite a few games that will no longer be available as of June 30th. The games that will be eliminated are Star Wars: Battlefront II (PS2 and PC), Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (PC), Neverwinter Nights 2 (Mac and PC), Command and Conquer : Red Alert 3 (Mac and PC), Crysis 2 (PC), Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Conquer Games, Battle Field 2 (PC), Battlefield 2142 (Mac and PC) and Battle Field 1942.


EA made an official announcement saying that because of technical challenges and concerns they have over player experience th EA games that are on the GameSpy experience will be shut down as of June 30th.



EA is aware that some of the  games that they are going to shut down are still very popular games and that is why the EA team is working to evaluate options to keep services available.

EA is also looking into community supported options to keep the online functionality for these game online, like multiplayer. There are just too many technical hurdles for these games and there is no solution for them right now.
