Good news for those who refuse to stop playing their favorite video games since a recent report has proven that gaming keeps our brains young.
We may have been told at some point in time to stop playing our favorite video games and do something more important. Most of us probably never listened anyway and good thing we didn´t since a recent report has proven that playing video games keeps our brains young. This report was made by the University of California, San Francsco and in this study they had a group of 60-80 year olds play a custom game where the players had to identify some signs and ignore others. This proves that as we get older multitasking get harder.
Those who conducted the study used electroencephalography so they could monitor the players as they played the game and they found that the theta activity in their prefrontal cortexes looked like that of a young person. This report is definitely going to help further research on what part of the brain should be handled in order to improve memory and attention. So now we have proof that if we want to keep our brains young, we are going to have to continue to play our favorite video games.
