Hiroshi Yamauchi Dies at Age 85 – Nintendo Pioneer

Today is a very sad day for gamers all over the world since the persoa that brought us Nintendo´s famous games has died at the age of 85.

I still remember the day my mo took me to the store to buy me my Super Nintendo. At that moment, that was the best day of entire life since I finally had the latest version of my ban then favorite console. I know that by mentioning this I am revealing my age but I don´t care since today is not only a sad day since for all Nintendo fans.  He was Nintendo´s President from 1949 to 2002 and when he had to step down, the current Nintendo president Satoru Iwata took his place.

Yamuchi took over Nintendo when he was very young, at the age of 22 and he had to do so because his grandfather had suffered a stroke. When he had Nintendo in his hands it was not the console and videogame company it is today, but it was mainly a playing card company with a few side business. Everything changed for Nintendo when Shigeru Miyamoto created Donkey Kong since that was began to define Nintendo as the videogame company it is today.

Yamauchi never finished his studies at the prestigious Waseda University and was not your typical executive since he was very informal in the way he spoke to others and was very spontaneous . Yamauchi died today of pneumonia in a hospital in the heart of Tokyo. The funeral for Yamauchi is going to be this Sunday at it is going to be in the right place, in the Nintendo facilities.
