Good news for Windows 8.1 users since the latest update is now available.
Microsoft has officially confirmed that the August update for Windows 8.1 is now available for all users. We shouldn´t expect huge improvements but the minor ones it will bring are very much welcomed. If you already have a million things to do and just don´t have time to get the latest update, not to worry since you should be getting it soon via the Windows update feature.
The updates that Windows 8.1 users can expect are:
- reducing login prompts in Sharepoint Online. This is going to minimize the amount of prompts with federated use in accessing SharePoint Online sites. If you want to avoid seeing prompts for successive access for that particular SharePoint site, you just have to choose the `Keep me signed in´check box.
- Improvements in Precision Touchpad – There are 3 new end-user settings, 1) Right Clicks on Touchpad, 2) Leave touchpad activated when the mouse is connected and 3) users can double tap and then drag.
- Thanks to Miracast Receive, a set of WiFi direct APIs will be exposed for IHV drivers or OEM drivers to create Window 32bit apps that run on x86 based or x64 versions of the OS.
Don´t worry if you don´t see the updates you have been looking for since Microsoft is keeping its promise of regular updates and maybe the one you have been waiting for will come in the next update.
