Twitter is working on it´s own video platform to compete with Google´s YouTube.
Twitter has been making headlines because of all the new features that are coming. After the Timeline Highlights, the TwitterTube platform is coming. Twitter´s video platform still needs a lot of improvements, but the idea is for it to be able to YouTube.
If all goes well, Twitters video platform should go live sometime this year and for now, it does not support external videos. Looks like Twitter will be building up its own video library.
Hopefully the time length will change soon, but for starters Twitter videos can be as long as 10 minutes. The videos can be as high quality as the user wants and is even encouraged to upload the best HD videos they have.
Looks like we are going to have to wait for editing tools since the videos don´t have them yet. The videos can be sent to all subscribers, used in an ad campaign on Twitter, or you can hide them. You will also be able to see the percentage of video that is the most interesting and how many views the video has.
Like I mentioned before, there are still a lot of improvements that need to be done, so TwitterTube could look fantastic by the time it is officially released.
