It is finally official, Sony Ericsson is now owned by Sony and they have also done something else.
A while back we heard of Sony trying to get full acquisition of Sony Ericsson but then the topic kind of got lost with MWC 2012 and Lawsuits here and there. But now, there is confirmed information that Sony Ericsson now solely belong to Sony. Looks like everything Sony has done to make this possible has obviously paid off it doesn’t end there since Sony has already announced something else they plan to do after getting Sony Ericsson all to themselves, What could it be?
This marks the completion of the transaction jointly announced by Sony and Ericsson on October 27, 2011, and makes Sony Ericsson a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony. Sony will rename Sony Ericsson “Sony Mobile Communications”, and further integrate the mobile phone business as a vital element of its electronics business, with the aim of accelerating convergence between Sony’s lineup of network enabled consumer electronics products, including smart phones, tablets, TVs and PCs.
This is obviously good news for Sony and only time will tell what Sony is really capable of and we are of course expecting Sony PS4 and if it is going to have what it takes to compete against the XBox 720.
